Our HistoryPTC International, Inc originated in Salisbury, MD in 1980. The primary focus at that time was the development of export food programs to South Korea and import of machine tools from China for the poultry industry. At that point in time, the concept of importing goods from China was in its inception.
Business soon developed and some of Maryland’s chief food products were being exported to Asia, including South Korea and Japan. Initial products being exported included poultry and seafood. Imported goods included forged metals for heavy duty processing lines from China and Taiwan and special containers for the agricultural industry. In 1989, the business was transitioned to Baltimore, MD. New projects including outdoor furniture, chocolate and confectionery ingredients and labor programs were started. In 1998, PTC was awarded Maryland’s Small Business Exporter of the Year. In 2001, new domestic product lines were added to the Company’s portfolio including the Xtra Chair Non Apparel Stitched Line, the Bmore Sports retail line for professional and collegiate licensed goods, including the popular Extreme Neon sports line. Over this time, PTC Foods became the largest exporter of chocolate and olive oils to South Korea. Also in 2001, PTC International Portfolio Management Inc. (hereafter, IPM), was established in order to service the financial advising needs of high-net-worth individuals and institutions. During the same period, IPM’s business has grown from a local advising firm to become a global portfolio management corporation, with the establishment of an International Fund and Korean financial advising operation. In 2007, domestic offices were moved from the World Trade Center in downtown Baltimore to a warehouse and office complex in order to facilitate the growing fulfillment requests originating from our growing domestic distribution.
